When you're fundraising, a lot of people don't realize that there's a point along the way where you're no longer the boss. I think a lot of people start companies or become entrepreneurs because they like having that freedom and controlling their destiny. At some point along the way—maybe it's your series A or series B—the board usually flips over to be controlled by investors.

As a founder, you often have so much on your shoulders. It's such a pressurized situation to be in. I've found that by sharing more with your team, especially in the tough times, they're excited to help figure things out together.

Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
