I realized that wisdom or good judgment is the thing that's most short in supply and the most valuable ... You don't have to be that hard-working or that smart if you have great judgment, if you pick the right things to focus on, pick the right people to work with, pick the right place to live ... If you have poor judgment, no amount of hard work or intelligence really saves you; you kind of screw yourself.

I think the NFT and web3 stuff is just complete nonsense. I think it's inferior entrepreneurs slapping their web3 name on crap that no one wants and hoping that it's going to work.

99% of humans and Americans and everybody else gives two shits about AI. They're worried about enough money coming in their bank account on Friday to pay rent on Monday and that their house is maintained, if they have food to put in their kids' bellies. It's absurd.

I think every responsible man should have provisions to keep their family alive for 2 weeks with no power and no Internet.

I just follow tons of rip dudes on Instagram. And you know how they say you're the average of the 5 people you hang out with most? I feel like I'm the average of the 50 followers that I follow on Instagram. So, I'm just constantly seeing rip dudes...

Getting popular on Twitter and Instagram and things like that, I think it's an incredibly empty feeling for most people, and I think it's complete nonsense, and your time would be spent building a company or focusing on your family than getting popular on social media. I think it's empty. I think that it's, like, small boy stuff.

They're like, 'So what do you do for your safety net or whatever?' I was like, you're looking at it ... If I'm still me, I'm safe ... A bond portfolio is not my safety net. My 401k that's locked up till I'm 65—I don't think of that as my safety net. I am my safety net.

It's much more important to pick what game you play than to try to be the best player at a game because if you pick the wrong game, even becoming the best player still ends up in a small outcome or a really painful path, but if you pick the right game to play, and whether you become the best or not even the best but just kind of the top 25%, it's just so much better to win that way.

Validating an idea is really, really hard. I actually don't think you're ever going to get this clear signal ... It's just like a spectrum; you're just increasing your confidence level that there's a real there there, but you're never at 100% until many, many months in—too far in.

I constantly ask myself: What can I do this week, this month, this year, what can I accomplish in a certain time period that will make every other task not important?

Starting a newsletter is really popular right now. Most people don't realize it is a treadmill. It is very challenging to create new content ... Any type of content business—very, very, very, very hard.

'Avoiding stupidity is easier than seeking brilliance.' And [Charlie Munger] says, 'Other people spend their whole life trying to be so smart; all I'm trying to do is not be idiotic. It's harder than people think, but this is more important than trying to be brilliant.'

I made a few points about how to be interesting ... The first thing is that you have to find something that interests you, and you have to turn it into a passion, even if it's not popular.

I've learned, with relationships throughout the years, like marriages and business relationships... you want to get the difficult conversations out the way early on, because that will literally save you a decade of heartache.

Work on something where you know you're the customer. Because if you're the customer for it, I guarantee you, on internet scale, that there are at least another hundred-thousand people that are just like you that have the same problem as you that feel the same way you do.

The person who decides every day what choices they have to make for each decision—that person will be exhausted and burnt out. And so about when I was 29/28-years old, I made the decision that I will never ever ever miss a workout.

Here's some of the words they use: open source, social protocol, and decentralized. When I hear those words, I just, I just don't care. I just don't care at all.

If you have to say 'this is AI', and the product is good because of that, that's a horrible way to go about it. But if it's just freaking works all the time, that's a great way that you know the product is going to be good.

Sending voice notes in iMessage. I went from I've never sent a voice note, and I was like, why is this feature even here? ... I have gone all-in on voice notes. It's basically how I run my business. Now, I'm just sending voice notes all day to my team.

Facebook's campus, for those of you who haven't gone.... it's like a mall. It's like a mall, but everything's free. I'm not joking ... They have a vending machine, but instead of candy bars, it was, like, computers.

I hate flying. I do not like to fly at all. So, typically, if I have to go somewhere, even if it's like 12 hours away, I tend to drive. I do not like to fly. When I fly now, I fly business class.

I don't fast because I'm hungry in the morning ... Around 9:30, I'll have a cup of yogurt—so that's like 15 g of protein, I think. And then I'll maybe eat like a banana, and then I'll go and get a really hard workout in. And then afterwards, I use Ascent or Momentous protein; and I do four scoops with just water. And I drank that, and then I won't eat till dinner.

Judgment and decision-making is the most important thing you can have. People are terrible at actually honing that. They always say, 'Oh yeah, I learned a lesson.' Really, what was it? Did you did you write down what you were thinking then and what you've learned since? No. You put very little effort into this.

[Artifact] has this problem that a lot of Silicon Valley ideas have, which is they try to sell you what you should do instead of what you want to do.

My home that I live in in Austin, I paid $900,000 for it. So, my monthly mortgage, and taxes, I think, it's 5,000 or 6000, somewhere in between that with taxes.

I have zero budget for whole foods and healthy foods. Whatever I see and I want, I get. I don't question the price. I just think, I'm doing it, no matter what.

I have a $300 Costco mattress in one of my rooms at my house, and whenever guests stay, they go, 'Where'd you get this mattress?' They asked about it all the time. Fucking 280 bucks at Costco.
